Plaid Perfection

"Hello, Is there anybody in there?  Just nod if you can hear me.....Is there anyone home?" These are the lyrics to Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd, my favorite band and it ironically suits this post well. This song is what I am rocking out to as I compose this blog post. Yes, I am aware that I have not posted in months and I do apologize as it has really made me upset that I have had no time! Between Senior year and working every week at my job, I have no time to take pictures, which is a shame because I got a new camera! I don't know if you can tell, but these images are so much more clear and beautiful than previous pictures you have seen. Well, it's because I  was finally able to buy myself the camera of my dreams! I spent all summer babysitting and working at my job, and after only a few short months, I had enough to purchase a Canon Rebel T3i equipped with 3 lenses- the 50mm lens (my favorite)  18-55mm lens and a 75-300mm lens! There was literally no words to describe how happy I was when I bought it! I was speechless! I just sat in the car holding it like a newborn baby, not wanting to put it down! My goal is to post at least two blogs per month, but I need your support, so please share or tweet and spread the word about " The Penniless Prada Project"!

Let's start with this weather! How beautiful it has been, with a cool breeze in the air that causes you to see your own breath but also just perfect enough to curl up with your favorite blanket and a cup of hot cocoa. Fall is one of my favorite times of year--with the gorgeous color of the leaves as they change, the fun activities you can do like corn mazing or jumping in piles of leaves and.....oh yeah the fashion!! When that clock strikes "fall", it is time to pull out that box of scarves, slip on a favorite pair of boots, and layer with a jacket because it IS TIME!

By complete accident, the majority of my outfit is from JCPenny, including the Cami, jacket and jeans! This outfit is the most practical and easy outfit for fall and anyone can do it. Even though it is easy to do, it is very special to me because of one particular item...the scarf. I am not a huge fan of plaid, but I  love this scarf because it was a gift from my Grandpa, my favorite person in the world! It was actually a gift for him at one point to wear as he rode his motorcycle, but as he got older he had no use for it and he knew how much I wanted it. I also love this scarf because it is made by one of my favorite designers, Christian Dior. That's right! This beautiful cashmere scarf has everything including a designer's touch and a heartwarming reminder of my Grandpa.

Fall is the time of year to strut your stuff in a pair of boots. You cannot go though this season without a pair! Now, whether you have one pair or 5 pairs, just make sure you have a pair of brown! Brown boots are so versatile and can be worn with a white coat, a blue jean jacket and, oh yeah,  a red plaid scarf.  You don't have to spend a fortune on a good pair of boots, you just have to hunt for them! I got these beauties at a store called "Plato's Closet". This store is a consignment store where you can go in and sell gently used clothes in exchange for money or more clothes. I know some people find wearing other people's shoes as gross but that is why I only buy shoes that look slightly worn, that I can wear socks/pantyhose with and I make sure to wipe them down good before wearing. There is a bitter sweet story about these shoes. The way Plato's Closet works is they put one shoe out and when you are ready to buy them, they go and retrieve one from the back. Well, these boots originally had the cutest detachable stud chain that caught my attention but when the other boot came out from the back, it was missing the stud chain. I was torn because I really wanted the studs, but the cashier was so sweet and felt bad for me, so she gave me 40% off the shoes!! So, I was able to get a perfect pair of boots for only $7! How amazing is that? These boots are definitely going to be a part of my daily wardrobe for fall.

Are you still with me? I know this is a lot of writing but I needed to get everyone caught up since it has been so long!

The little cream colored jacket is not something I would wear to keep me warm but it is definitely something I would wear to add a little fun to an outfit. This jacket, which I call my "tutu" jacket due to the peekaboo lace underneath, is my "go to" for busy days. This jacket can be thrown over any Cami then add a little bling and done! I have worn this with a variety of necklaces, scarves, and hats and it has been titled "my savior"! It has saved me so many times when I have been late for school that it's not even funny!  I came across this cream jacket on one of my many trips to JCPenny. It was a little more than I usually pay for a jacket of this type, but from all the use and compliments I have gotten from it, I can safely say it was worth the money.

To finish this post I would like to talk about my hair. I am honestly done with seeing pin straight  hair. It is no longer summer, so girls pack up those straighteners and pull out the hot rollers.....It is time to go big or go home! Thin straight hair is out,big voluminous curls are in!!
